Bold Riley 02:59
LYRICS: Well the rain it rains all day long, Bold Riley-o, Bold Riley, And the northern wind, it blows so strong, Bold Riley-o has gone away. Goodbye my sweetheart, Goodbye my dear-o Bold Riley-o, Bold Riley, Goodbye my darling, Goodbye my dear-o, Bold Riley-o has gone away. Well come on, Mary, don't look glum, Bold Riley-o, Bold Riley, Come White-stocking Day you'll be drinking rum Bold Riley-o has gone away. Goodbye my sweetheart, Goodbye my dear-o Bold Riley-o, Bold Riley, Goodbye my darling, Goodbye my dear-o, Bold Riley-o has gone away. Well, we're outward bound for the Bengal Bay, Bold Riley-o, Bold Riley, Get bending, me lads, It's a hell-of-a-way, Bold Riley-o has gone away. Goodbye my sweetheart, Goodbye my dear-o Bold Riley-o, Bold Riley, Goodbye my darling, Goodbye my dear-o, Bold Riley-o has gone away.

LYRICS: First I loved William and then I loved John, But now I love Thomas he's a clever young man. With his white cotton stockings and his high ankled shoes, He wears a velvet jacket, like a flash lad he goes. Fiddling and dancing was all his delight, But keeping flash company has ruined him quite. Has ruined him quite and a great many more, If it hadn't have been flash company he'd never have been so poor. Take this yellow handkerchief in remembrance of me And wear it around your neck when in flash company. Dry up your briny tears and don't look so sad, There's plenty more flash girls all around to be had. Rocks shall run to water and the sea shall run dry, If I should prove false to the one that loves I. The sweetest strawberries shall grow in the sea, If I should prove false to the one that loves me. First I loved William and then I loved John, But now I love Thomas he's a clever young man. With his white cotton stockings and his high ankled shoes, He wears a velvet jacket, like a flash lad he goes. Take this yellow handkerchief in remembrance of me And wear it around your neck when in flash company. Dry up your briny tears and don't look so sad, There's plenty more flash girls all around to be had

Lowlands 03:17
LYRICS: I dreamed a dream the other night, Lowlands, lowlands away, my John. I dreamed a dream the other night, Lowlands away. I dreamed my love came standing by, Lowlands, lowlands away, my John. Came standing close by my bedside, Lowlands away. Hes's drowning in the lowlands sea, Lowlands, lowlands away, my John. And never more coming home to me, Lowlands away. He's drowning in the lowlands low, Lowlands, lowlands away, my John. And never more shall I him know, Lowlands away. He's drowning in the windy lowlands, Lowlands, lowlands away, my John. He's drowning in the windy lowlands, Lowlands away. I dreamed a dream the other night, Lowlands, lowlands away, my John. I dreamed a dream the other night, Lowlands away.

LYRICS: Well, who wouldn't be a sailor lad a-sailing on the main? To gain the good will of his captain is to blame. For he went ashore one evening for to be And that was the beginning of the whole calamity. And it's home, boys, home! Home I'd like to be, Home for a while in me own country, Where the oak and the ash and the bonny rowan tree Are all a-blooming freely in the North Country. Well I asked her for a handkerchief to tie around me head And likewise for a candle for to light me up to bed. She tended to me needs just like a young maid ought to do, So then I says to her "Why don't you jump in with me too?" And it's home, boys, home! Home I'd like to be, Home for a while in me own country, Where the oak and the ash and the bonny rowan tree Are all a-blooming freely in the North Country. Well she jumped into bed now, taking no alarm, Thinking a young sailor lad to her could do no harm. I hugged her, I kissed her the whole night long, Until she wished the short night had been seven years long. And it's home, boys, home! Home I'd like to be, Home for a while in me own country, Where the oak and the ash and the bonny rowan tree Are all a-blooming freely in the North Country. Well early next morning the sailor lad arose And into Mary's apron poured a pocket-full of gold Saying "Take this me dear for the mischief I have done, For tonight I fear I've left you with a daughter or a son." And it's home, boys, home! Home I'd like to be, Home for a while in me own country, Where the oak and the ash and the bonny rowan tree Are all a-blooming freely in the North Country. Now if it be a girl child, we'll send her out to nurse, With silver in her pocket and gold in her purse And if it be a boy child, we'll give him the jacket blue And send him up the rigging like his daddy used to do". And it's home, boys, home! Home I'd like to be, Home for a while in me own country, Where the oak and the ash and the bonny rowan tree Are all a-blooming freely in the North Country. So listen all ye fair maids, take this advice from me, Never let a sailor lad an inch above your knee, For I trusted one and he beguiled me, And left me with a pair of twins to dangle on me knee. And it's home, boys, home! Home I'd like to be, Home for a while in me own country, Where the oak and the ash and the bonny rowan tree Are all a-blooming freely in the North Country.

LYRICS: Come all you bold heroes, lend an ear to my song, I will sing in the praise of good brandy and rum. If the clear crystal fountains o'er England do roll, Bring me the punch ladle, I'll fathom the bowl. I'll fathom the bowl, I'll fathom the bowl, Bring me the punch ladle, I'll fathom the bowl. From France we do get brandy, from Jamaica comes rum, Sweet oranges and apples from Portugal come. But stout and strong cider are England's control, Bring me the punch ladle, I'll fathom the bowl. I'll fathom the bowl, I'll fathom the bowl, Bring me the punch ladle, I'll fathom the bowl. My wife she do disturb me as I sits at my ease, For she says as she likes and she does as she please. My wife she is a devil, heart black as the coal, Bring me the punch ladle, I'll fathom the bowl. I'll fathom the bowl, I'll fathom the bowl, Bring me the punch ladle, I'll fathom the bowl. My father he do lie at the depths of the sea With no stone for his head, but what matters for he? If the clear crystal fountains o'er England still roll, Bring me the punch ladle, I'll fathom the bowl. I'll fathom the bowl, I'll fathom the bowl, Bring me the punch ladle, I'll fathom the bowl.

LYRICS: As I walked out one evening fair, It being the summertime to take the air, I spied a sailor and a lady gay And I stood to listen, And I stood to listen, to hear what they would say. He said, "Fair lady, why do you roam? For the day is done and the night is on." She heaved a sigh while the tears did roll, "For my dark-eyed sailor, For my dark-eyed sailor, so young and stout and bold." "'Tis seven long years since he left this land, A ring he took from off his lily-white hand. One half of the ring is still here with me, And the other's rolling, And the other's rolling at the bottom of the sea." He said, "You may drive him out of your mind, Some other young man you will surely find. Love turns aside and soon cold has grown, Like a winter's morning, Like a winter's morning, the hills are white with snow." She said, "I'll never forsake my dear, Though he be gone for so many a year. Handsome he was and a rake like you, To induce a maiden, To induce a maiden to slight the jacket blue." One half of the ring did young William show. She ran distracted in joy and woe, Saying, "William, William, let us married be, For my dark-eyed sailor, For my dark-eyed sailor has now returned to me." There is a cottage by yonder lea, This couple's married and does agree. So maids be loyal when your love's at sea, For a cloudy morning, For a cloudy morning brings in a sunny day.

LYRICS: Twas pleasant and delightful one midsummer's morn And the fields and all the meadows were all covered with corn And the thrushes and the songbirds sang on every green spray And the larks they sang melodious at the dawning of the day. And the larks they sang melodious, And the larks they sang melodious, And the larks they sang melodious at the dawning of the day. A sailor and his true love were walking one day. Said the sailor to his true love, "I am bound far away. I am bound for the East Indies where the load cannons roar I am bound to leave you Nancy, you're the girl that I adore." Now the ring from off her finger she instantly drew, Saying, "Take this, dearest William, and my heart it goes too." And as they were embracing, tears from her eyes fell, Saying, "May I go along with you?" "Oh no, my love, farewell." Now the wind's in the rigging and the anchor's aweigh And the ship she will be sailing at the dawning of the day And the current is rising on a fast-flowing tide And if ever I return again, I will make you my bride. And if ever I return again, And if ever I return again, And if ever I return again, I will make you my bride.

LYRICS: "Well who are you, my pretty fair maid And who are you, me honey? Well who are you, my pretty fair maid And who are you, me honey?" She answered me most modestly, "I am me mother's darling." With me Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh "If you come to the house in the middle of the night, When the moon is shining clearly, If you come to the house in the middle of the night, When the moon is shining clearly, I'll open the door and I'll let you in, The devil's the one should hear us." With me Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh So he came to the house in the middle of the night, When the moon was shining clearly. So he came to the house in the middle of the night, When the moon was shining clearly. And she opened the door and she let him in, The devil's the one did hear them. With me Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh And she took his horse by the bridle and the bit And she led him to the stable And she took his horse by the bridle and the bit And she led him to the stable Saying, "There's plenty of oats for a soldier's horse To eat it if he's able." With me Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh And she took him by the lily-white hand And she led him to the table And she took him by the lily-white hand And she led him to the table Saying, "There's plenty of wine for a soldier boy To drink if he is able." With me Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh Then he got up and he made the bed And he made it nice and easy. Then he got up and he made the bed And he made it nice and easy And he picked her up and he laid her down, Saying, "Lassie, are you able? " With me Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh And there they lay till the break of day And devil's the one did hear them And there they lay till the break of day And devil's the one did hear them. Then he got up and he put on his clothes Saying, "Lassie, I must leave you." With me Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh "And when will you return again And when will we be married? And when will you return again When will we be married? When broken shells make wedding bells Then will we be married." With me Too-ry-ay Fol-de-diddle-day Di-re fol-de-diddle Dai-rie oh

LYRICS: In South Australia I was born, Heave away, haul away, In South Australia round Cape Horn, We're bound for South Australia. Haul away, you rolling kings, Heave away, haul away, Haul away, oh hear me sing, We're bound for South Australia. As I walked out one morning fair, Heave away, haul away 'Twas there I met Miss Nancy Blair, We're bound for South Australia. Haul away, you rolling kings, Heave away, haul away, Haul away, oh hear me sing, We're bound for South Australia. I rolled her up, I rolled her down, Heave away, haul away, I rolled her round about the town, We're bound for South Australia. Haul away, you rolling kings, Heave away, haul away, Haul away, oh hear me sing, We're bound for South Australia. There's just one thing which grieves me mind, Heave away, haul away, Is to leave Miss Nancy Blair behind, We're bound for South Australia. Haul away, you rolling kings, Heave away, haul away, Haul away, oh hear me sing, We're bound for South Australia. And as we wallop around Cape Horn, Heave away, haul away, You'll wish to God you'd never been born, We're bound for South Australia. Haul away, you rolling kings, Heave away, haul away, Haul away, oh hear me sing, We're bound for South Australia. Now here I am in a foreign land, Heave away, haul away, With a bottle of whiskey in my hand, We're bound for South Australia. Haul away, you rolling kings, Heave away, haul away, Haul away, oh hear me sing, We're bound for South Australia. Port Adelaide is a fine old town, Heave away, haul away, There's plenty of girls to go around, We're bound for South Australia. Haul away, you rolling kings, Heave away, haul away, Haul away, oh hear me sing, We're bound for South Australia.

LYRICS: It's in the evening after dark, That the blackleg miner goes to work, In his moleskin pants and dirty shirt, There goes the blackleg miner. Well he takes his picks and down he goes' To hew the coal that lies below, There's not a woman in this town row Who'd look at the blackleg miner. Oh, Delaval is a terrible place, They rub wet clay in the blackleg's face, Around the pits they run a foot race, To catch the blackleg miner. And don't go near the Seghill mine, Across the top they've stretched a line, To catch the throat and break the spine Of the dirty blackleg miner. Well they grab his picks and his duds as well, And they hurl them down the pit of hell. So off you go, and fare thee well, You dirty blackleg miner. It's in the evening after dark, That the blackleg miner goes to work, In his moleskin pants and dirty shirt, There goes the blackleg miner. So join the union while you may. Don't wait until your dying day, For that may not be far away, You dirty blackleg miner.
